WickedProblems

Diagram lists the constraints on Design Posed by Wicked Problems: Every problem is unique; Problems have multiple causes & are interrelated No clear problem definition; multiple, subjective problems compete for attention; Problems span organizational, functional, and management boundaries Multiple stakeholders have different perspectives & conflicting agendas; Problem-definition depends on framing, which constrains & directs possible solutions; Problems have no clear structure or logic to judge when a solution is reached; Change-agents are liable for consequences of actions; can make situation worse as well as better; No opportunity to learn by trial-and-error; every solution attempt changes the problem-situation; No way to test a solution; need to wait and see knock-on impacts of change.
