Following from the tenets of SSM, we can use systemic analysis tools to perform a collective analysis of a problem-situation. This has multiple benefits:
- It allows people from different work-functions to share ideas and to understand how others do their work;
- It allows people to see how their work fits into a bigger “system” of work-processes.
- It allows people to understand how and why they may cause problems by the way in which their work is done or recorded (for example, late delivery of information).
The tools presented here are not part of the SSM “canon” – they are tools developed across contexts, which I have adapted to a systemic analysis.
